🇺🇦🇪🇺 MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin opened the event “Energy Security under Threat - Lessons from Ukraine” in the European Parliament in Brussels and emphasised that the war against Ukraine is the war against Europe, and the strategies that the Russians have put in place are part of a global offensive against European security, democracy and independence.

⚡️ The event was dedicated to the energy situation in Ukraine and the lessons the EU can learn from Ukraine regarding energy sovereignty and security. Participants discussed how the EU can strengthen its support for Ukraine’s energy security amidst the escalating Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, underlined the destruction of energy system of Ukraine by Russians, informing about more than 1200 attacks on energy infrastructure in all sectors: electricity, gas, renewable energy sources, hydropower, transmission, distribution, everything including administrative buildings and people that do their daily work, that are not trained and are not supposed to fight the war with a screwdriver.

Nataliia Fiebrig, co-founder and director of Ukraine2Power, participated in the panel, discussing how Ukrainians cope with energy poverty. The initial project of Ukraine2Power focused on delivering mobile energy storage systems to Ukraine, and the organisation has already supplied nearly half a megawatt in capacity.

What sets Ukraine2Power apart is that we don’t just deliver equipment —we stay in contact with recipients to ensure the systems are functioning effectively and making a real impact. Now, we aim to expand our efforts with sustainable energy solutions, including larger energy storage systems and solar power plants.

💭 “Ukraine has an opportunity to create a modern, decentralized energy system. However, civil society cannot meet all the needs alone. But we can make a difference today for a specific community, a school or a hospital, and provide them with an eco-friendly and long term-solution.”

Let’s make a difference together!
