🇺🇦🇩🇪 One Day on the Ground in Kyiv
During a visit to Kyiv, Barbara von Freytag, who helped raise funds for Ukraine2Power’s Winter Project, accompanied our team from the warehouse to the distribution of emergency kits. The visit highlighted how the solidarity of people in Germany continues to bring warmth and support to those most affected by the energy crisis.
Winter may be coming to an end, but the need for warmth and support has not disappeared.
At Ukraine2Power, we are close to finishing the distribution of our winter emergency kits. Yet requests for help continue to arrive every day.
Recently, Barbara von Freytag, who helped raise funds for this project, joined Viktoriia Mamoilyk and our team for a day to see our work on the ground.
We first met at the warehouse, where we showed her how the kits are prepared and packed. We explained what goes into each kit and why some include gas stoves while others do not, depending on the conditions in the buildings where people live. We also shared how we leave our contact information in every package so people can reach out and give feedback.
After that, we went together to a high-rise building on the left bank of Kyiv, where our team handed the kits directly to residents.
After seeing how the support reaches people, Barbara von Freytag said:
💭 “I am very moved to see how the kits are being distributed to people while it is still cold in the city. It is terrible that cold is being weaponized against innocent civilians. Kudos to Ukraine2Power for initiating this help — swift, well organized, and exactly what is needed. I am very happy that Germans could contribute so much.”
Seeing the process from packing to handing the kits directly to residents was a powerful reminder that even as winter ends, many homes are still cold and the need for warmth remains very real.
