⚡ What Ukraine’s Energy Recovery Needs Now

August 4, 2026

Ukraine2Power joined the Ukrainian Investment Congress to discuss what is needed to accelerate Ukraine’s energy recovery. The focus was on decentralised generation, bankable projects, and strong local partnerships that can turn investment into real impact.

Rebuilding Ukraine’s energy sector will require more than replacing damaged infrastructure. It is an opportunity to develop a more decentralised, flexible, and resilient energy system.

At the Ukrainian Investment Congress, Kostiantyn Gura, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Ukraine2Power, represented our organisation in a panel discussion on investment in energy resilience, commercial and industrial projects, and developments in Ukraine’s renewable energy sector in 2026.

According to Ukrainian government estimates, more than USD 90 billion will be needed to restore the country’s energy sector. Ukrainian businesses are already investing despite the war, but mobilising funding on the scale required depends on turning urgent needs into well-prepared, investment-ready projects.

Three priorities emerged from the discussion:

🔋 Decentralised generation and energy storage

Distributed energy systems remain central to Ukraine’s transformation, while energy storage is developing into a major market of its own.

📑 Bankable projects

Private investment, loans, and donor funding require projects that are technically sound, financially viable, and ready for implementation.

🤝 Local ownership

Municipal co-financing is increasingly important, particularly for donor-supported projects. It demonstrates commitment, strengthens investor confidence, and improves the prospects for long-term implementation.

Ukraine’s energy recovery will depend not only on how much financing is available, but also on whether strong projects and reliable local partnerships are ready to absorb it.
