The UNECE Sustainable Energy Week 2024 has officially begun, bringing together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to address key issues surrounding cleaner electricity systems, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable energy transitions. Among the participants are Nataliia Fiebrig, co-founder and director of Ukraine2Power, and Kostiantyn Gura, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukraine2Power, who are representing the organization’s innovative work in Ukraine's energy resilience and electrification efforts.

Nataliia Fiebrig took stage as a speaker at the panel titled “Electrification of Mobility: Development of Infrastructure, Integration with Grid, Resource Planning,” where she provided insights into Ukraine’s growing electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and the critical role it plays in energy resilience.

Highlights from Nataliia Fiebrig’s address:
– Ukraine2Power’s Impact: The NGO has deployed over 70 mobile power systems to support critical infrastructure across Ukraine, including Ukrainian Railways, and is currently exploring electric solutions to upgrade medical train cars used for evacuations.
– EV Growth in Ukraine: Nataliia emphasized a significant increase in EV adoption across Ukraine, highlighting that during power outages, EVs have become indispensable as backup power sources for homes and small businesses.
– Zero Duties and VAT for EVs: She also noted Ukraine’s current policies, which include zero customs duties and VAT exemptions for EV purchases, further encouraging the adoption of EVs.

💬 “Decentralized energy generation using renewable sources like solar and wind, along with energy storage systems, can ensure a more stable and flexible power supply. A decentralized grid is harder for Russian forces to target and helps support the growing EV market,” Nataliia concluded.

The Ukraine2Power delegation, led by Nataliia Fiebrig and Kostiantyn Gura, aims to demonstrate how local, modular energy solutions are key to building a resilient energy system in Ukraine, one capable of supporting a just and sustainable energy transition even amid adversity.
